20 Nov, three card draw

Three Card Draw, 20 November

  1. 10 of Pentacles <--> Point of completion.  Stable home life, solid foundation.  All is good on the home front as they say.  B and I are making our life together.
  2. Knight of Pentacles reversed <--> Establish a schedule and routine for the next phase of your journey.  A time of self discovery and lessons to learn, so set up the routine to help reach those goals.  It can be done, just need to take it one step at a time.
  3. Ace of Cups reversed <--> In tune with your subconscious and intuition.  Working on bringing intuition more into your life.  So this is also my tarot studies, plus the palmistry, and astrology.  Combine the information to give a better rounded picture during readings.

Card of the Day 18 November, The Star

The Star
Keywords:  Hope, Renewal, Spirituality

You have endured many challenges and stripped yourself bare of any limiting beliefs that have previously held you back. You are realising your core essence, who you are beneath all the layers. No matter what life throws your way, you know that you are always connected to the Divine and pure loving energy. You hold a new sense of self, a new appreciation for the core of your Being.

The Star brings renewed hope and faith, and a sense that you are truly blessed by the Universe. You are entering a peaceful, loving phase in your life, filled with calm energy, mental stability and more in-depth understanding of both yourself and others around you. This is a time of significant personal growth and development as you are now ready to receive the many blessings of the Universe.

With the Star card, anything is possible and the magic is flowing around you. Your heart is full of hope, and your soul is being uplifted to the highest of highs as you realise that your dreams really can come true. Allow yourself to dream, to aspire, to elevate in any way possible so you can reach the stars. They are right here waiting for you.

You may also want to find or rediscover a sense of meaning, inspiration, or purpose in your life. You are making some significant changes in your life, transforming yourself from the old you to the new you and, in doing so, you are bringing about a fresh perspective: “Out with the old and in with the new!” You are choosing the highest version of yourself. This is a profound spiritual journey that will bring greater meaning and purpose into your life and will renew your inner energy. Strip back any limiting beliefs, facades, or deceptions, and live in your authentic nature. Be open to new ideas and growth, and listen to the still voice within.

The Star also suggests a generous spirit. You want to give or share your wealth with others to help transform their lives. Yours is an open heart, and you now want to give back the blessings you received so that others may benefit.

15 November, 3 card spread

15 November, three card spread

All Pentacles this time, Earth , Grounding, Money or material possessions.

  1. 7 of Pentacles:  I've put in the work, now to wait on the harvest.  Appreciate the work I've put in and be ready for the rewards.  <--> makes sense as I'm jumping into doing more Tarot readings for people so I'm excited to see how my skills have improved.
  2. Page of Pentacles:  Manifesting new opportunities into my material world.  So seeing that path and making some gains in the material realm.  The studies have brought me to a point where I can start new ventures.  Still some things I want to add to the mix, but this is a great sign to get my butt moving.
  3. 3 of Pentacles reversed:  All the above, but I'm going it alone.  I can't depend on anyone else to get me there.  I have the tools, I have the skills, I have all that I need.  Now to take that step and do the work to make it all happen.

Card of the Day, 15 November, 9 of Cups

9 of Cups
Keywords:  Satisfaction, Gratitude,
Wish come true

What a lovely card for a Friday.  The wish card.  You've made your wish and now it will come true. You've put in the work and have the satifaction of a job well done.  Not feeling it???  Take a moment each night before you go to bed and make a quick list of three things you are grateful for, do this for a week.  You'll see how your life is filled with blessings and how more comes your way.

This is why the Nine of Cups is often called the wish card. It comes as a sign that the planets aligned and you have everything you wished for. You could not be happier! If you made your wish and are patiently waiting for it to come to fruition, then this card is an excellent omen that it will soon be granted.

The Nine of Cups is an invitation to splurge, indulge and enjoy life’s pleasures. This includes enjoying good food and wine, appreciating the arts, making love, relaxing in a luxurious resort or experiencing beauty. Live in the moment and give yourself permission to indulge temporarily without any guilt about the possible negative consequences of such pleasure.

When you see the Nine of Cups in a reading, remember to count your blessings and express gratitude for what you have. Start or end every day by creating a mental list of the three things for which you are most grateful. Over time, you will intensify your sense of contentment and your ability to attract what you wish for – it is the Law of Attractio

14 November, 3 card spread

14 November, daily 3 card spread.

  1. The Emperor reversed.  Pay attention to my commitment to my goals and reassess as necessary.  Am I putting in the work to get to where I want to be?  So need to sit back and focus on the plan again.
  2.  7 of Cups, reversed.  Overwhelmed by choices. Stuck because I don't know which to choose.  Time to ground myself and really focus on where I want to go.  Make a choice and then follow it through.  :-0
  3. The Hanged Man, (He wasn't reversed in the spread)  Take that pause and figure out what path to follow.
Fairly accurate reading for me today.  I do have many paths I want to follow, and I need to focus on one first, then build the others as I go along. So yes the cards keep telling me what I need to do, now they wait for me to actually DO IT.  Always the hardest part is putting in the work.  Taking the action.  The message repeats, the wording changes, but the meaning is the same.  So time to put in the work.

Card of the Day, 14 November, The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man
Keywords:  Pause, Surrender, New Perspectives

The Hanged Man, there he is accepting his situation and taking in the view from this new position.  Sometimes you gotta turn yourself on your head to see what's in front of you.  Yes I know you are super busy and have no time for this pause, but it's NEEDED right now.  So stop fighting and let yourself relax and see what is around you.  It may not be what you want to do, but it's what you need to do.

The Hanged Man reminds you that sometimes you have to put everything on hold before you can take the next step, or the Universe will do it on your behalf (and it may not always be at the most convenient time!). You may have heard the saying, ‘What got you here won’t get you there’, and that indeed is at play in this card. The Hanged Man calls you to release the old mental models and behavioural patterns that no longer serve you so you can see your world from a new perspective and embrace new opportunities that would have otherwise been hidden from you if you didn’t hit the brakes.

13 November, 3 card spread

My Daily 3 card spread.  I just ask the basic "What do I need to finish from yesterday?", "What can I expect from today?", and "What can I look forward to tomorrow?"  I don't tie it to work or any specific situation, and so it's a general guidance.

The Devil:  I need to go inside myself and face that darkness.  Fight the lazy, and overcome the pitfalls I set for myself.  I know where I want to go, and I can slip the chains, but I need to put in the work and do it.

The Lovers:  Getting clear on my values and beliefs.  Putting myself out in this world and following that code that is me.

Knight of Wands:  Pursuing the idea, and following that path that is before me.  Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead.  Let's do this.

I've started down this path with the Tarot, and everything points to me committing to it even more than I am.  I need to dive in, face the internal daemons, overcome them, and move forward.  Everything in there, now it's time to put in the work.  The elevator to success is broken, time to take the stairs.  Change is not simple, it can be scary, the end results are WORTH it.

Card of the Day, 13 November, the 10 of Wands

The 10 of Wands
Keywords:  Burden, Hard work, Completion

10 of Wands, carrying that heavy load.  Got your hands in so many pies, that you are spread too thin.  Gotta let some of those things go.  Put down that load before you collapse.

When you see this card you have to ask yourself "What can I release?", "What burdens can I put down?" If you don't take time for yourself, how will you ever complete all your tasks?  So stop carrying that which you no longer need.

Sometimes, the Ten of Wands appears when you are unconsciously taking on extra responsibility and finding yourself feeling weighed down, exhausted and burnt out. You may try to do everything at once, even though you know it is adding extra pressure to your daily life. The Ten of Wands asks you to stop and examine your current lifestyle or work. Assess which activities or tasks are urgent or important, particularly concerning your broader goals. You may need to use various time management or prioritisation methods to determine where best to spend your time and which tasks you can drop. Your goal needs to be higher efficiency while also freeing yourself up for rest and relaxation when you need it.

The good news is that the Tens in Tarot represent the completion of a cycle, and with the Ten of Wands, the end is in sight! You have been pushing yourself to your limits and working very hard towards your goal. Now, you are taking those final steps on the path to realising your dreams. Sure, you might collapse in a heap of exhaustion when you get there, but you know it will be all worth it and well earned!

8 November, three card draw

Friday three card pull

So I ask 'What do I have to finish from yesterday?', 'What can I expect today?', and 'What can I look forward to tomorrow?'.  Here's the cards I drew:

Yes the Tower, Ace of Wands reversed, and 6 of Swords reversed.

So immediately I'm anxious about the tower, because I generally relate this pull to my work day, but I realize I didn't specify that in the questions, just had them open as to what I need to finish, what today will bring etc.  So if you read past the typical 'doom and gloom' of the tower, shaking your world to the core is pretty much doom and gloom, you find the part about spiritual transformation.  Thoughts and belief systems changing and finding that thing that really resonates in your core.  The reversed Ace of wands also points toward an awakening, and the reversed 6 of Swords tells you to go within yourself and find that path.  Pretty much confirmation on my Tarot studies and that I should continue my growth here.

I was reading one of my many books last night and got to the chapters on meditation and journaling.  How to ground yourself, then shuffle the cards, pull one, examine it and meditate on the meaning, etc.  So before I headed off to bed I did that little exercise, and I pulled the Hermit.  The guy on his own path, his inner light leading the way for him. That ties in directly to these cards as I see it.

So my weekend will be more of the learning and more of the studying and strengthening my belief systems.  Just working more with the cards I'm getting better at seeing the meanings and not having to look up as many things.  I'm getting those straight forward messages as to what they are saying.

Card of the Day, 8 November, the 3 of Wands

3 of Wands
Keywords:  Progress, Expansion, travels

Today we have the 3 of wands.  The chance to broaden your horizons through study, travel, business.  You can see the obstacles far out in your path and can plan around them.  You need to reach outside of your comfort zone to grow.  This card can also mean travel, usually overseas.  So take advantage of this energy while you have it, push yourself outside of your comfort zone.

While the Two of Wands speaks to planning for the future from a place of safety and comfort, the Three of Wands shows that your plans are now well underway and you are considering even more opportunities to expand your current strategy and maximise your ultimate potential. Everything is progressing steadily and as expected, thanks to your solid preparation and ongoing drive.

To take advantage of this potential, you must stay committed to your path and be prepared to stretch beyond your comfort zone, knowing your best hopes lie outside of your current environment. It is time to think BIG. Consider what you can to open doors to more development and self-exploration. This card encourages you to dream bigger than your limitations. Accept your vision and be confident you will achieve it.

Card of the Day, 7 November, 3 of cups

3 of Cups

Keywords:  Celebration, Friendship, Collaboration

Always a Happy Card, the 3 of Cups.  A time for celebration, gathering of Friends.  Enjoying that good time in life.  Take the time to forget about your day to day grind for a moment and enjoy your friendships.

When the Three of Cups appears in a Tarot reading, you are encouraged to gather with your closest friends and have a good time together, talking, laughing, sharing and creating. Together, you give and receive the love, support and compassion each of you needs from one another. You may be inspired to host a girls’ night out, a weekend away, or start a women’s circle so you can join forces with like-minded people. The energy is high, and you’re here to do amazing things together.

October 24, Daily three card draw

Well if this isn't a fun one, I'm not sure what is.  The three card draw today is the following:

  • What do I need to finish from yesterday?  Temperance Reversed. As the last card yesterday hinted towards health concerns I'm thinking I need to rebalance my life.  Continue the work that was suggested yesterday.  I'm taking my new meds, and also trying to smooth out the peaks and valleys from this past week.

  • What do I nee to focus on today? Wheel of Fortune Reversed.  Changing my destiny.  A run of bad luck? so today I have the opportunity to change what has been happening and get my life back on a better track.  Other than the illness last week I thought my life was on a pretty good track.  We will see what happens.

  • What can I look forward to tomorrow?  9 of Pentacles. Abundance in my life.  Enjoy that which I have earned.  Makes sense with the reversed Wheel of Fortune, I can change my luck and will reap the rewards.

So lets see how things work out today, and if the 9 of Pentacles shows it's influence in my life tomorrow.

Card of the Day, 24 October, 2 of Pentacles

2 of Pentacles
Keywords:  Balance, Juggling

Ah yes the 2 of Pentacles.  It's all a balancing act.  Taking care of all the responsibilities you have in life.  Juggling this and that while on the high wire and waiting for your ship(s) to come in.  Somehow you manage it all with grace.

Really good card for me today, as I've a ton of things to do and it's going to be a juggling act to get it all done.  :-)

23 October Three card daily reading

So there I was digging around on Reddit, and I came across the r/tarot subreddit.  I had to check it out and I've learned somethings, and contributed some of my knowledge to posts there.  Then I found the AMA archive and yes Melissa Cynova did one, and you KNOW I had to read it.  Her book, Kitchen Table Tarot, is what got me to actually read the cards.  I'm so happy I started that journey.

She was asked about pulling a card a day and her thoughts.  Her answer was one of well a one card pull doesn't really cover the energy of a day for me, so I do a three card reading each day.

  1. What do I need to finish from yesterday?
  2. What do I need to focus on today?
  3. What can I look forward to tomorrow?
So I will start doing this spread daily and journal about it here so I can review it as time passes.

Today is October 23, 2019

  • 3 of Pentacles reversed.  Sloppy workmanship, delay of recompense.  Not learning from my mistakes is one possibility.  Health wise (I am still suffering from a cold, and I did message my Dr. yesterday) Doctor did respond today, so that could be the continuation from yesterday.  Appointment made for Friday with Dr.

  • King of Pentacles.  Steady, reliable, solid man.  Hmm either good news on the financial front, or I'll have a stable influence on my day. Looked online and King is about achieving goals.  Seeing things through to a successful end.  So I'll be all business today.  :-)

  • The Magician reversed.  Be careful not to miss the opportunities coming your way. Don't let self doubt hold you back. Be careful of deceitful people around you. Health wise it's about manifesting the healing.  So put your mind to getting over what's happening and the Universe will help you out.
So overall I like this three card spread set up.  I will put more effort into doing this daily and it will help me with the meanings of the cards put into a context.  If you happen to stumble upon this leave me a comment so I know.  Thanks!!!

Card of the Day, 23 October 2019, Death

Death
Keywords:  Change, End of a cycle

So the card that freaks people out in Tarot.  The DEATH card.  Death is change, Death is the end of something so something new can begin.  Winter to Spring, Spring to Summer.  Night to day, or day to night.  It's nature, it's all part of the plan.  Expect something new today, or something you no longer need to go away.

Card of the Day, 22 October, 2 of Cups

The Two of Cups
Keywords: Harmony, Friendship, Cooperation

This card is also known as the LOVE card.  A new romance beginning.  It's also for friendship, partnership, cooperation. Two forces blending to make a complete whole.  I shuffled my new Robin Wood tarot deck this morning thinking about the deck and what this one will teach me.  The two of cups was the card that came out.  So I think this will be another fun deck to work with.  It has the traditional imagery, but takes the religious aspects out and replaces them with more pagan symbols.  It flows easier for me as I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual.  :-)

Sorry for the break in posting, I came down with a terrible cold and even missed three days of work because of it.  Nasty bug going around right now.  Get your rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Card of the Day 11 October, The Moon

The Moon
Keywords:  Fears, Bewilderment, Imagination

Funny that this would be my card of the day.  I was listening to a Podcast yesterday with Melissa Cynova, and they started with the Moon card.  I saw this card come up in a couple of forums I was reading last night.   "I am wary", is the key phrase Melissa uses for this card.  The moon casts a watery light and things are not always as they seem in this light.  The Tower is always in the Moon card and this deck is no different, but it doesn't look the same.  Acknowledge this weird landscape and explore, just don't become lost in it.

Classic depictions of this card show a crayfish, a dog and a wolf between two pillars. The crayfish represents your ancient lizard brain, the most primal part of your consciousness. The wolf represents your instincts that are still wild, things that you still have even if “civilization” leads you to repress them. The dog represents the tamed parts of your consciousness, the parts that society smiles upon.

The Moon reminds you that consciousness is vast and deep. Some parts of your awareness feel safe and comfortable – other parts feel mysterious and scary. The Moon speaks to all of the ways the vastness of your unconscious can manifest: dreams, fantasies, visions, illusions, anxieties and instincts.

It can be daunting to explore the huge chambers of your consciousness. There are certain aspects of yourself that you may be terrified to face, leading you to deny and repress them. The Moon reminds you that when you refuse to integrate these energies, the energies can be destructive. But when you are willing to step gently into the Moon’s glow, you can integrate these unconscious energies into your conscious awareness. This is a continuation of the process that began with the Devil.

Card of the Day, 8 October, High Priestess

The High Priestess
Keywords:  Intuition, Going within

Time for the Magical, Mystery bus to arrive.  This is all about intuition to me, those things beyond the physical.  The High Priestess can share that wisdom with you.  It's not about action, it's about being still and hearing the voice......  You know the one I'm talking about.

The High Priestess knows how to be immersed in dreams, visions and the complex realm of unconscious awareness without letting these energies overcome her – but also without her needing to overcome them. She is willing to let things be what they are, even when what they are is indescribable in words. The High Priestess is attuned to the experiences beyond conscious understanding. She does not strain herself to explain the mystery – instead, she immerses herself completely in that mystery.

She asks you to tap into your intuition, to let yourself experience dimensions beyond the relatively small scope of your conscious awareness. Non-rational ways of knowing are valuable even while being fleeting and hard to pin down. The High Priestess shows the part of your awareness that goes deeper than the surface, she asks you to soften into your inner knowing. While the Magician spoke to the visible power of doing, the High Priestess speaks to the quiet magic of BEING.

Card of the Day, 3 October, Ace of Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles
Keywords:  Prosperous Beginnings, Material Growth

In my readings I've seen how the meanings on this card have evolved over the years.  Aces are the beginnings and here we have the Earth energy.  So beginnings of material things.  One book said this is the "Jackpot" card, you've got everything you need to manifest anything you want.  I'm not so sure it's that amazing, this is about grounding and letting things grow.  It's not an instant reward, but plant the seed of what you want and watch it grow.

On that note, the Ace of Pentacles often asks you to place your focus on the real world. There are other cards that ask you to focus on ethereal energies, but the Ace of Pentacles is more about what is measurable and practical. This card reminds you of the importance of staying grounded. A good way to do this is to tune into your physical senses and let them offer advice and inspiration.

In a reading, this card can ask you to activate your resources, both internal and external. Where are you right now, and what do you want to build from here? Every moment gives you the opportunity for a new beginning. Get comfortable with where you are, while having faith that you are progressing. As you take your next steps, cultivate a sense of trust in the process. Things will unfold naturally as you continue to dig deep and do the work.

Card of the Day, 2 October, The 4 of Wands

Four of Wands
Keywords:  Milestone, Completion, Celebration

A time to rest and contemplate where you are now.  You've come a good distance along your path, and now it's time to take a moment and rest.  Celebrate if you'd like.  In this card I see the calm blue center, and looks like the portal is open to get there.  Taking that fire energy of the wands and grounding it to build this place of stability.  There is still a ways to go on your path, remember to stop and smell the roses along the way.

Four is a number of stability, and wands are the suit of momentum. As such, the Four of Wands is often a symbol of milestones on your journey. It is important to recognize these milestones, even when they seem small. Giving yourself the chance to celebrate little victories gives you the chance to replenish, and them move forward with even more vigor.

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Card of the Day, 1 October 2019, Temperance

Temperance
Keywords:  Healing, Moderation, Balance

The good and the bad, the light and the dark.  You need a balance to keep moving forward.  It's not always sunshine and roses, rain does need to fall.  Balance is not everything in equal proportion, sometimes you need more of this and less of that.  You have the ability inside of you to do this and you can see what needs adjusting.

Temperance means making sure you do not have too much or too little of any one thing: creating balance is a common aim of various spiritual practices. But remember that balance does not have to mean everything is “equal.” Sometimes you need more fire than water or vice versa. Balance simply means that things are working together in harmony, not that they are rigidly divided into proportions. In this regard, Temperance shows that in a spiritual sense, balance is not a science but an art.

Card of the Day, 25 September, Son (Knight) of Wands

Son of Wands
Keywords:  Charming, Adventurous, Fired Up

Seeking new adventures and throwing himself headlong into them.  Always ready for the next thing, but probably won't stick around when times are boring.  So it's a perfect card for me today, the last work day before heading out to Arizona. A new adventure is just around the corner.

The knights are the metaphorical teenagers of the court cards. As such, their relationship with the energy of their suit is somewhat inconsistent. Therefore the Knight of Wands is full of enthusiasm for life, but may also be restless or easily agitated. He is willing to take risks, but sometimes those risks get him burned. He can be charming and attractive, but might not stick around when things get boring!

As a court card, the Knight of Wands can represent a specific person, an aspect of personality, or an approach to life. Consider how this card’s approach might be helpful, but also be aware of the less beneficial aspects of this energy.

Card of the Day, 24 September, Mother (Queen) of Pentacles

Mother of Pentacles
Keywords:  Domestic, Capable, Loving

The Earth mother is how I see this one.  Connected to all the living things. Grounded and protective if needed.  Strong, and spiritual wisdom included.  Not overbearing nor demanding, just being that which she needs to be.

Grounded keeps repeating in my head, so I'm thinking maybe I need to ensure I'm grounding myself as I continue the journey I started last night.  Got a new book, Tarot Elements, and have started doing work on myself.  I am taking those steps to improve my life, and this card just enforces that I'm following the path I need to follow.

The Mother of Pentacles can ask you how her character traits are currently impacting your life. Are you attuned with your physical surroundings? Are you giving enough attention to the people, plants and animals in your life? Consider how much you are willing to give help and support to yourself and others.

This card can also highlight a need for trust. Are you keeping the promises you make to yourself? Are you taking tangible steps to improve your life and the world around you? You have the resources you need to move through any obstacles. If you’re having a hard time tapping into those resources, remember it is okay to turn to others for support.

Card of the Day, 23 September, the 6 of Cups

The 6 of Cups
Keywords:  Kindness, Memories, Childhood

We've had this one before, but I love the imagery in the Wild Unknown deck.  Showing the roots of the tree in bright colors.  There's more to a person that meets the eye.  Remember you have no idea what anyone is going through below the surface, so treat everyone with kindness.  Those hidden roots are what make you into the person you are, embrace them and stand tall, and proud like the tree on this card.

Although this is one of my favorite cards in the Wild Unknown deck, the imagery here is quite different than many decks. The Waite-Smith tarot depiction shows two humans who appear to be children. The older child offers a cup filled with flowers to the smaller child. The presence of children on the card has led it to sometimes be associated with innocence, childhood or nostalgia for the past.

My strongest association with this card in any deck is that of kindness: simple, spontaneous acts of good will that do not ask for anything in return. Sometimes it is necessary to see beyond differences and embody the energy of altruism. It is true that there are many “dark” aspects to human nature, but the Six of Cups reminds you that humans are also capable of embodying tender loving care.

Card of the Day, 20 September, Knight (Son) of Cups

Knight (Son) of Cups
Keywords:  Introspective, Romantic, Peaceful

A thinker, a dreamer, romantic, self-absorbed if it goes too far down that path.  So generally refers to a young male, quiet, yet radiating that energy.  The best description I read is this:  Essentially the Son of Cups is learning how to handle the spectrum of his internal world.

If I follow the theme from the cards this week, this is the perfect card for Friday.  It's me, no questions.  I started with the Devil acknowledging those inner demons, and have been steadily working on them this week.  I've gotten the support from the Universe each day with a card helping me to see where I am going and reassurance that I'm traveling the correct path.  Support and encouragement along the way.  Today the card shows I'm not done yet, did I think it would only take a week??  No.  I continue my journey.

The Knight of Cups is often described as a sensitive soul. He certainly has a romantic way of looking at the world, gravitating towards drama and a flood of emotions. This can be a beautiful thing, as he teaches you to fling yourself straight into the direct experiences of your emotions. However, it can also present a challenge as he is not the best at maintaining perspective and clear thinking.

The Waite-Smith tarot Knight of Cups rides a white horse, another symbol of his romantic nature. This card reminds you how potent it is to connect deeply with life, but make sure you don’t lose yourself in the rolling tide.

Card of the Day, 19 September, the 6 of Swords

The Six of Swords
Keywords:  Reeling, Recovering, Hope at Last

So you've faced the battle and now it's a time to pull back and put it on autopilot.  Take that time to recover, but know you are on the right path, and the journey is not complete.  You are heading towards that rainbow, there are better things ahead, just take this time to recover from what you've been through.

Every card this week is just re-enforcing what I'm dealing with on a personal level.  I'm taking the guidance and actually putting it into motion.  I was feeling pretty run down by the end of the day yesterday, so I think I'll take this cards advice and let myself recover today.  Still moving forward, heading towards that rainbow.

Interestingly enough The World card jumped out of the deck as I was shuffling this morning.  I put it to the side, gave the cards another shuffle and the top card was this one.

Decks that draw from the Waite-Smith tarot tradition often depict this card by showing human figures huddled in a boat. One person rows the boat, while two others are huddled over and bundled up in cloaks. The boat carries them forward, but also offers them the opportunity to rest and recover. Soon they will reach new shores, but for now they are still slightly reeling.

This card is usually less associated with major traumas and more associated with the micro-struggles that impact us on a daily basis. It typically shows up during times when you are lacking the mental, physical and spiritual energy to engage deeply with life. Sometimes the best thing you can do during such occasions is to trust that you are moving towards a more holistic awareness.

There is no need to rush yourself, but there is also no need to dwell on the difficulties. Look for ways to expand your perspective of your experiences. You will not always be in this in-between place, you are already moving closer to the awaiting new land.

Card of the Day, 18 September, The World

The World
Keywords:  Fulfillment, Wholeness and Breakthrough

The last of the Major Arcana, the end of the Fools Journey, complete and whole, everything it is there.  You can interpret the imagery in this card to cover mind, body, spirit.  Plants and animals and earth, and the universe.  I read the following, and it totally hits home for this card:  "Regardless of our current challenges and emotional turmoil, we are always, already complete beings. We only need to shift our perspective, to zoom out and see the whole picture. We are perfect in our imperfections. Everything will be okay, everything is okay. Everything have purpose, everyone is cosmologically significant, all are connected. The Universe is creating a story, and we are essential to the plot."

Perfect in our imperfections.  This card ties into the cards from Monday and Tuesday and lets me know I am on the right path.  I'm dealing with those inner demons, and the nicks and cracks, and flaws I see are what make me "ME", and that's the way it is supposed to be.  So embrace it and live that truth.

As the final card in the major arcana, the World carries a sense of completion and wholeness. Traditional imagery on this card shows a dancing human figure. The human figure is surrounded by a laurel wreath – a symbol of success. As such, this card can be associated with completion, the sense that something has reached a spiritually ordained conclusion.

This card is also associated with duality becoming unity. When the card contains a human figure, the person is sometimes considered to be equal parts male and female. I think of the World as a sort of combination of the Magician and the High Priestess: the World is about both “doing” and “being.” The World is an integration of supposed opposites: light and dark, flesh and spirit, the individual self and the One That Is All.

Card of the Day, 17 September, Mother (Queen) of Wands

Mother of Wands
Keywords:  Vibrant, Devoted, Warm

Queen/Mother of Wands, a nurturing vibrant force.  Lives her life her way and keeps to her moral code.  She puts everything into what she's doing and always looks for the best.  Not someone to easily cross as she will defend what is hers.  Be you, 100%, and bring out the good in others.

The queen radiates the energy of the suit of wands from the inside out. Devotion is one of the keywords I associate with this card: she is clear about her passions and devoted to nurturing them. Others gravitate towards her inner warmth. She sets a keen example for living a creative, passionate, radiant life.

In many decks, the Queen of Wands is shown with a sunflower. This symbolizes her blossoming life force. She knows who she is and lives securely from her glowing center. She is not oblivious to the hardships of life – she is willing to stand up completely for what she believes in, even if that is risky or uncomfortable. But even so, she’s an eternal optimist, always oriented towards the good in herself, and drawing out the good in others.

Card of the Day, 16 September, The Devil

The Devil

Keywords:  Negativity, Materialism, Inner Demons

Today we have the Devil.  Not a pretty card, but one of warning I think.  Time to face those inner demons, and deal with them.  At least START dealing with them.  Don't let them continue to run wild in the dark, where they can grow and become stronger.  Bring them to the light and examine them, and then deal with them.

In traditional decks the imagery is of two people with chains around their necks, however the chains are quite loose and they can easily slip those chains off if they want.  Is comfortable where you are?  Is that really what's best for you???

The card’s background is dark and bleak. There is no sign of light, the Devil dwells in the realm of shadow. Exploring your shadows and confronting your inner demons is crucial, because it’s when they are left to roam freely in the dark that they cause real issues. By bringing these parts of yourself to the light, you can learn to accept, heal and integrate them.

The goat’s feet are surrounded by orange and red flames, yet he does not burn. This tricky, treacherous fellow can walk through fire (maybe he’s even the one conjuring the blaze). He looks as though he wants to lure others with his wily ways. We’ve come to associate the force we call “the devil” with addiction, enslavement, and negative patterns. Once you become aware this energy is at work, you can begin to free ourselves.

Card of the day, 12 September, Page (Daughter) of Pentacles

Daughter of Pentacles
Keywords:  Manifestation, Skill Development

Pages (Daughters) are the start of the Court cards, and they are all about the wonder of the suit.  Pentacles are Earth, Grounding, Learning.  The joy of learning, just to learn, no need to rush off for adventure just yet. Learn and build the skills, putting the plan into motion.

The Page of Pentacles, like the Pages of all four Tarot suits, brings a welcome message of new beginnings, inspiration and the initial stages of a creative project or venture. Since Pentacles rule the material realm and correspond to the element of earth, this Page symbolises a burgeoning awareness of the value of money, wealth, possessions, career, and physical health, and how to manifest more of these material blessings. You welcome new opportunities to your material life – a new job, a new business, or a financial windfall – and wish to discover how to turn your dreams into reality.

When the Page of Pentacles appears in a Tarot reading, you are tapping into your ability to manifest a personal goal or dream and may be in the midst of a new project such as a hobby, business venture, or the start of a new educational experience. You are excited about the possibilities and potential of what you put your mind to, knowing you can create whatever you want with focused intention and action.

Card of the Day, 11 September, The Fool

The Fool
Keywords:  Innocence, Discovery, Fearless

Ah I got a chance this morning to pull a quick card before the work day kicked off.  Had an early start to the day, but all is well, I have almost closed my 'exercise' ring, as I've been moving this morning.  :-)

Back to the card of the day, I was thinking about myself and what guidance I needed today and out pops the fool.  Telling me I'm ready to start that new path, journey, that thing I've been thinking about doing.  So I will.  Like the Fool I'm full of confidence, and unafraid to step off that cliff.

I love the imagery in this deck, it almost looks like the fool is dancing and leaping without a care in the world.  Sometimes you just have to dance like no one is watching.  So get out there and DO it!!!!

Card of the Day, 4 September, 3 of Coins (pentacles)

3 of Coins (pentacles)
Keywords: Collaboration, Team Work

Pulling it all together.  Having that team/support system to tackle whatever lays in front of you.  You've either gathered the people around your, or have pulled it all together inside of you.  You've got what you need, and everyone contributes to the successful completion of the plan.  There is no 'i' in team, and no leader here, everyone is equal.

The stonemason couldn’t build the cathedral without the help of the architects, and they couldn’t build it without him. Each person has an important role to play, and when they come together as a team, they can create something much more significant than if they were to undertake the project on their own. So, when the Three of Pentacles turns up in a Tarot reading, take it as a sign to collaborate with others, creating synergies to achieve big results.

The Three of Pentacles represents the value of different ideas and levels of experience in collaboration. The architects respect the specialised knowledge of the stonemason, and the stonemason appreciates the wisdom and experience of the architects. Even though their backgrounds, experience levels and expertise are very different, they can come together to share their insight in a way that creates synergy and improves the finished product. There is no ‘us and them’ or any sense of superiority. Instead, each person has something to offer and is willing to learn from the others involved in the project. Everyone is getting the job done collectively and contributes to the group through active listening and sharing. As you work on projects with others, acknowledge the value that each person brings to the table. You will also learn from each member of the team when you see his or her unique contribution.

The Three of Pentacles, like the Threes in the other suits, marks the initial stages of implementation that follow the Ace‘s idea phase and the planning step of the Two. You know what you want to create; you’ve laid out the plans, gathered your resources (money, people and time), and set to work – you may have already reached your first significant milestone. Of course, you are nowhere near the finish line just yet, but you have got the ball rolling and are making things happen.

Card of the Day, 3 September, Six of cups

Six of Cups
Keywords: Revisiting the Past, Innocence,
 Childhood Memories

Looking at this card I see a boy and a girl having a tea party. This card reminds me of childhood joy, those little things that you remember fondly.  My trip with B to Santa Cruz this past weekend is a perfect example of that.  I LOVE Santa Cruz, and it was my favorite place to go as a kid.  Bring that joy and innocence into your life today.  See things through that lens today, when everything was new and wonderful.

The Six of Cups is a card that takes you back to the happy memories from your past, whether as a child, teenager or young adult. You may simply be revisiting those memories in your mind, or you may travel back to your childhood home or reconnect with your childhood friends. You could go to a high school reunion or reconnect with an old buddy. A teenage sweetheart or past lover may turn up again. These connections bring you a sense of joy and happiness as you reminisce over all the fun times you had together. Take this occasion to explore whether you still have a lot in common and if you wish to continue the relationship now.

The Six of Cups often shows an increased level of harmony and cooperation in your relationships. You are ready to give and receive, without expectation. You are also willing to give each other the benefit of the doubt, having moved on from the challenging emotions of the Five of Cups. It’s time to turn over a new leaf and start afresh from a more positive place.

The Six of Cups invites you to get in touch with your inner child and experience the fun, freedom and innocence that comes with being a young child again. You might like to sit down with an adult colouring book, dance like no-one is watching you, play your favourite childhood games or spend more time around (happy) children. When you give yourself permission to be playful, spontaneous, and creative, you connect more with your authentic self and your intuition.

Card of the Day, 30 August, Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups
Keywords:  Passionate, Idealism

Ah the Knight of Cups for today.  For me this card is lover, full of passion and ideas.  Broody, Dreamy, intensely loyal to friends and family.  He's the creative one, expressing through art, painting, poetry, etc.  Knights are action, so he's not just dreaming about it, he's doing something to make it come true.

The Knight of Cups is the classic romantic of the Tarot deck. He is in touch with his intuition and emotions, and he uses them masterfully to charm and attract others. He shows compassion and understanding towards others because he has learned to understand his own feelings and emotions. The Knight is kind, caring and very in touch with his feminine side. He might be found writing a romantic poem to his lover, creating art inspired by his innermost feelings or appreciating a vibrant sunset with a glass of champagne in his hand. His heart is wide open, and he wears it on his sleeve. He shares his love freely with others, without constraint or worry; he is in love with love itself.

When the Knight of Cups appears in a Tarot reading, you thrive on all things beautiful and are inspired by the many creative outlets available to you. While the Page of Cups was inspired by an imaginative idea, the Knight of Cups is motivated by action. You have dreamed about what it is you want to create and now are moving forward with this dream to make it a reality. It may be an art project or something you feel ‘called’ to do, based on your emotions, imagination and intuition. Be open to exploring your passions and your big ideas. You may find yourself drawn to a particular passion or hobby and now is the time to turn it into ‘something.’ While you are in no hurry to reach the finish line, keep in mind that true imagination feeds on action; if you do nothing with your dreams, they will remain just that – dreams and not reality.

Card of the Day, August 29, Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords
Keywords:  Candid, Protective, Problem Solver

Queen of Swords, a good person to have in your corner.  Generally represents an elder woman.  She's got her wits about her, can be funny, will protect the weak.  When she gives advice you are wise to listen to her words.  She can't stand fools, and will cut you to the quick if need be.  Usually very direct communication.

In a general context, the Queen of Swords can represent an older woman in your life who will step in when you are vulnerable and protect you or help you to overcome a problem. It represents being intelligent, sharp witted, witty, honest, truthful and candid. This Minor Arcana card signifies being realistic, discerning or skeptical and it can signify that you will receive constructive criticism from someone and you would do well to listen to it. It can also represent open-mindedness and self-reliance. However, this card can also indicate that you may be suppressing some pain or sadness from past events. As a person, the Queen of Swords represents a mature female or feminine person who is chatty, quirky, forthright and supportive. She may be an air sign such as Aquarius, Gemini or Libra. She is a woman who may have known loss or suffering herself and has gained much inner strength and wisdom from her experiences. She is someone who will always defend those who cannot defend themselves. She has strong empathy and is a great person to have in your corner if you are vulnerable as she will defend you. However, she will not suffer fools gladly and if you are in the wrong, you can expect her to call you out on it without mincing her words! She can have quite a sharp tongue on her at times. She is strong, quick-witted, principled, fair, funny, sophisticated, independent and capable and will not be clingy or needy.

Card of the Day, 28 August, King of Cups

King of Cups
Keywords:  Compassionate, Protective, Diplomatic

King of Cups is one all together kind of guy.  He's the Father Figure, most likely either yourself, or a very strong male influence in your life.  Kind, compassionate, got it all together.  He has control of his emotions, and doesn't get swept away with the tide.

The King of Cups represents mastery over the realms of emotion, creativity and the unconscious. When this card turns up in a Tarot reading, you have gained control of your feelings and can accept them without allowing them to get the better of you. Even when life throws you a curve ball, you can draw on your emotional maturity and stability to help you navigate these challenges. You don’t let things get to you, and you steer clear of the drama, instead choosing an emotionally balanced and calm approach.

Let's Talk Tarot

Wands

So as we all know there are four suits in a Tarot deck; Wands, Swords, Pentacles, Cups. Each suit has it's associated element, and energy.  Wands are Fire and Creativity.  It's a fast moving energy, bolt out of the blue at times.  Fire can create as well as destroy, so you have to be careful and control this energy.

Celebrations, travel, gathering, creating, and defending are all aspects of the suit of wands.

From the creative spark from the Ace, to the celebration of the four, to the standing your ground of the seven, to the over burdened of the 10, it's all in this suit.

This is a good overview and start for this suit.  I will do other posts where I cover the specific energy of each card in this suit.  The ten pip cards and the four court cards.

Card of the Day, 27 August, Knight of Swords

Knight of Swords
Keywords:  Ambitious, Driven to success

Knights are ambitious and raring to go.  This guy knows what he wants and he charges right for it.  Not always thinking through the consequences of those actions, but charging headlong into the situation.  He's not waiting for something to happen, he's making it happen.  Quick on his feet, and thinking as he goes. Swords are Air and Intellect.

When the Knight of Swords appears in a Tarot reading, it is a sign that you are highly driven, ambitious and action-oriented. You are so highly motivated to succeed that you will stop at nothing to pursue your dreams. The challenges, difficulties and obstacles on the path ahead don't faze you because you know where you want to go. Move forward with sheer strength and determination to make things happen.

The Knight of Swords suggests that you are quick to take action and tend not to plan ahead, instead preferring to dive right in. You thrive on high levels of energy that propel you forward and inspire you to take action to manifest your goals.

The Knight of Swords reminds you to be assertive in getting what you want. He doesn’t hang back and wait for something to happen. He is always making the first move and actively pursuing his goals. You can harness this energy in your life too by being proactive and forward-thinking. See yourself as the creator of your future and be ready to take the necessary steps to make it happen.

The downside of the fast-thinking, quick-acting Knight of Swords is that sometimes you act too quickly and haven’t thoroughly thought things through. You may be unaware of potential challenges and issues that will stand in your way, or the unintended consequences of your actions. You may be prone to rushing things or cutting corners to get a job done. Or, you may pursue a specific goal, thinking it is what you want, but later realise that it’s out of alignment or a dead-end. Sometimes a little planning and preparation can go a long way.

Card of the Day. August 26, Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Keywords:  Celebration, Freedom, Excitement

What a great card for my return to the Card of the Day posts.  The four of wands.  It's a homecoming of sorts, a returning, a celebration.  Fitting as I'm getting back to my normal routine and my daily posts.  I hope you all have been well.  I'm going to start another blog thread with more study on the cards.  I decided this morning that whatever suit I pulled for the card of the day, would be the suit I started with on that other thread.  So it will be wands.

Here's the traditional meaning on the Four of Wands:

The Four of Wands is a card of joyful celebration, blissful happiness and appreciation for the good things in life. When this card appears in a Tarot reading, it is the perfect time to celebrate with those you love most. You may commemorate a significant event or milestone such as a wedding, birthday, homecoming or reunion. Or, you may invite a few of your favourite friends over for an intimate dinner for no particular reason except to revel in each other’s company. Relax and let your hair down – enjoy this special time together!
